Hazel Ann B. Gumera practices in the areas of eminent domain, land use and zoning, and real estate transactions. Her eminent domain practice includes representation of both landowners and business, and taking authorities. Hazel represents buyers, sellers, and commercial lenders, landlords, and tenants in real estate transactions.
Prior to joining the firm, Hazel was an attorney at King & Spalding LLP’s Tort and Environmental Litigation Practice Group, where she defended large multi-national corporations in products liability cases. Hazel worked as an attorney at New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG). At NYLAG, she represented clients in foreclosure litigation and counseled victims of Superstorm Sandy on federal and state disaster relief, insurance, building code violations, and contractor fraud. Previously, Hazel was a closing agent at Halstead Management Company, which manages over 22,000 multi-family units in the New York City area, and a law clerk at a boutique real estate firm, where she prepared purchase agreements and closing documents.
During law school, Hazel interned at NYLAG’s Housing Project, where she represented tenants in Housing Court, and at the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB). At the DOB, she represented the Department at administrative hearings regarding building and construction code violations, and drafted the Department’s responses to violation appeals. Prior to law school, Hazel was a commercial litigation paralegal at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP in their New York office.
A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Hazel resides in the Dr. Phillips area. She and her husband enjoy running, cooking, volunteering and cheering on their favorite sports teams. Hazel currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers and a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Orlando Asian American Bar Association.
