In late 2019, the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners refinanced bonds originally used to build the Osceola Parkway. This $200 million, along with state and federal grants and “mobility fees” collected by the County, will be used to design and construct key roadways in Osceola County.
Osceola County is planning a road widening project for Simpson Road from US 192 to south of Myers Road. Additional improvements are expected to include enhanced bicycle and pedestrian safety. Major intersection improvements have been designed at Buenaventura Boulevard and Fortune Road. Acquisition of property and construction is expected to occur in phases. There are three phases being handled by Osceola County. Hillard Isle Road to south of Myers, US 192 to Fortune Road and Fortune Road to Hilliard Isle Road.
Hillard Isle Road to south of Myers Road has been evaluated to widen to four lanes and includes a ten foot shared use path on each side of the road.
US 192 to Fortune Road has been evaluated to widen to four lanes and includes a ten foot shared use path on each side of the road and will tie-in to a planned new bridge over the Turnpike, which will be designed and constructed by others.
Fortune Road to Hilliard Isle Road has an existing five-lane highway. It has been evaluated to increase intersection capacity and add auxiliary lanes and a ten foot shared use path on each side of the road.
Property acquisition is funded in fiscal years 2023/2024 for all three sections.
Corridor Alternative B is the preferred alternative. Option 2 was selected for intersection improvements at Fortune Road and Buenaventura Boulevard.
